NEW YORK — An emotionally disturbed woman was hit by a car and critically injured outside a Brooklyn hospital Tuesday night, authorities said.

The 53-year-old woman was struck while she ran from an ambulance crew trying to convince her to check back into Brookdale University Hospital, police sources said.

She was discharged at about 7:30 p.m., sources said.

A short time later, an ambulance crew saw her acting irrationally on the street outside the Brownsville hospital and tried to convince her to go into the emergency room to be re-admitted, sources said.

Instead, the woman bolted, and was struck by a car on Linden Blvd. by Rockaway Parkway just after 8 p.m., authorities said.

First responders rushed her back into Brookdale, where she’s listed in critical condition, cops said.

Police couldn’t immediately say if the ambulance was run by a city EMS crew or by a private company, and the FDNY said they had no information about the incident.
