ABERDEEN, Wash. — Firefighters, friends and family members honored fire engineer-paramedic Chad Mittleider at a memorial service Saturday, King 5 reported.
Mittleider died on Dec. 2 after working a 24-hour shift, and the Aberdeen Fire Department said he died in the line of duty.
“He was a valued member of the department who served with professionalism and compassion,” a department Facebook post read.

Mittleider worked at the Ocosta Fire Department, Westport Fire Department and South Beach Ambulance Service before joining the Aberdeen Fire Department in 1999. He was promoted to fire engineer/paramedic in 2009 and worked for the department for 22 years.
He is survived by his wife and daughter.
Chaplain Pat Ellis, Fire Chief Tom Hubbard, Assistant Fire Chief Dave Golding, family friend Kellie Daniels and Mittleider’s wife, Danielle Busz, spoke at the service. Mittleider was remembered as a family member, firefighter, friend, coach, farmer and fisherman.
