SOUTH PLAINFIELD, N.J. — The South Plainfield Rescue Squad and South Plainfield EMS are being sued by a former patient and his wife in connection with a crash in which the man was ejected from an ambulance, MyCentralJersey reported.
In the suit, Joseph and Camille Giovannone say that the rig was operated in a reckless, negligent manner that led to severe injuries for him.
Giovannone, 81, was transported in a South Plainfield Rescue Squad ambulance on Jan. 7.
He was ejected from the rig when it hit a railroad bridge a short way from Hackensack Meridian Health JFK University Medical Center in Edison. According to police officers, the box part of the rig hit the bottom of the bridge deck.
