DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Two people broke into an ambulance and stole thousands of dollars of items while paramedics treated a patient.
WSBTV reported that detectives released surveillance footage that shows the men stealing two bags that contained tactical books, electronic notebooks, social security cards, wallets and keys.
“They were very quick and precise in what they were doing. They got in and out and no one saw anything,” DeKalb Police Lt. Lonzy Robertson said.
Neighbors questioned if it was a setup, but police think it was just a crime of opportunity.
“It’s even more egregious to steal from someone trying to do their job out here, trying to help someone else,” neighbor Frederick Montgomery said. “It makes you think a lot. Make sure you keep doors locked. Even the paramedics are getting robbed.”
