BOURNEMOUTH, England — A woman ended up in agony in hospital after she dyed her hair.

Selma Olaval, 32, said her face ballooned to twice it’s normal size from an allergic reaction two days after using the dye.

By the time paramedics arrived she could not open her eyes fully. She needed an emergency injection and was given tablets.

But the mum of one had to drive herself back to hospital the next day for more medication.

Selma, of Bournemouth, bought Clairol Nice ‘n Easy dye for £4.79 to go from brown to black. She said: “My forehead was swelling and my eyes were puffy. I thought I was going to die. It’s finally gone down five days later.”

A Clairol spokeswoman said reactions could occur in a “very small number” of cases. She said the pack clearly tells users to “carry out a patch test each and every time dye is used”.
