DANVILLE, Ind. — A central Indiana paramedic has words of warning as we enter flu season: Don’t underestimate the virus.

The flu and pneumonia put Randy Waltz on a ventilator for 13 days back in January. He nearly died. Waltz did not get his flu shot, but he said that’s changing this year.

From his Hendricks County home, Randy Waltz is still recovering, almost nine months later.
