MEMPHIS — Memphis Fire EMS stays busy year round.
During the summer though, they respond to 5-7% more calls.
“Since June 28th we’ve transported 188 patients so far who their main diagnoses was heat exhaustion or heat stroke,” said Chief Gary Ludwig with the Memphis Fire Department.
“Not only do we see the heat calls, but we also see patients where the heat conditions actually exacerbate their medical conditions. So people who might have diabetes, people who might have high blood pressure, people who might have some other type of medical condition,” said Chief Ludwig.
