EDISON, N.J. — Newly hired firefighters will be required to obtain emergency medical technician certification if the Township Council passes an ordinance that was introduced for second reading at last week’s Township Council meeting.

Firefighters already on board may be required to undergo EMT training, but will not be forced to obtain the certification, Barca said.
