Their children will benefit from funds that have been established to help pay for their future needs and education

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — The children of the man and woman who died in an apparent murder-suicide in Bloomington Monday will benefit from funds that have been established to help pay for their future needs and education.

Kelly Emerick, 48, shot by her longtime boyfriend, left behind an 11-year-old daughter, Brigit. Randy Roudebush, 42, had two children, 15-year-old Noah and a younger son, Bryce.

“We are really concerned about the kids’ well-being after losing their parents,” said Mandy Childress. Roudebush was a close friend, and when she saw that an online charitable account had been set up for Emerick’s daughter, she wanted to do the same for Roudebush’s sons. “I have been sharing information with people about the efforts for both families, so they know we are coming together. Their parents mattered, and they were both loved, and this is about helping the kids left after this tragedy.”

Diana Calkins and Emerick both were members of the Sigma Kappa Bloomington Alumni Chapter. She met Emerick several times, and was flooded with requests of “how can I help” when other sorority members found out what had happened.

“Sending flowers didn’t seem to be enough. Then I said, ‘How about we raise money to help with the education of this little girl,’ since we were affiliated with Kelly. She was a paramedic and he was a firefighter, and I knew there would be large numbers of people hurting and needing to express their grief in some positive way.”

Both women set up fundraising pages at an online site called “gofundme.”

The address to make a donation for Emerick’s daughter is: www.gofundme.com/Kelly-Emerick-Memorial.

The address to make a donation for Roudebush’s sons is: www.gofundme.com/3p4vjc.

Bank accounts for donations have been established as well. For Emerick’s daughter, go to any Regions Bank branch. Donations for Roudebush’s sons can be made at any Owen Valley State Bank branch.
