VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A Virginia Beach police officer accused of attacking two firefighters at the scene of a car crash is facing more charges.
Bradley Colas was previously charged with two counts of malicious wounding of an emergency medical care provider.
On Wednesday, the 23-year-old was charged with attempted murder and a firearms count, according to The Associated Press.
The charges stem from an incident March 4 when Colas crashed his car and allegedly stabbed two firefighters treating him. He was also accused of pulling out a gun and shooting at responders.
Colas’ lawyer blamed the incident on side effects from an antibiotic he took for a respiratory infection, according to the report.
