STOCKTON, Calif. — If Stockton Fire Department paramedics want to use advanced lifesaving techniques in the future, they will need to have an agreement with county medical officials first.
That was the decision handed down recently by a Modesto judge and received Monday by Stockton and San Joaquin County officials.
The ruling follows a February trial to determine who has authority over the delivery of advanced life-support services in Stockton. The lawsuit centered on a 24-year-old agreement between the city and county and on a 30-year-old state law governing emergency medical response.
