BROOKLYN, N.Y. — A veteran FDNY EMT died three days after having shoulder surgery for an on-the-job injury.

NY Daily News reported that Alan Cooke, 54, who was stationed at EMS Station 58, died Sunday morning. His daughter found him unresponsive at home.

“He had a job-related surgery three days before. We don’t know if it was complications from that or not,” EMS union head Israel Miranda said.

According to Miranda, Cooke served as a union delegate and was a 30-year EMS veteran.

“He was a mentor to so many people … He was the nicest guy I ever met on this job,” Miranda said.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
