ISLAND HEIGHTS, N.J. — A firefighter-EMT died while diving off the Florida coast Thanksgiving day.
British-born David Ley was pulled from the water after falling ill, where officers performed CPR on the boat, reported the Patch. First responders continued CPR after Ley was brought to shore before transporting him to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Ley served at the Island Heights Volunteer Fire Company, as well as the Plumsted Township Fire District.
Family, friends and colleagues shared numerous posts remembering and paying tribute to Ley.
Funeral arrangements have not been yet made.
“He was a true brother to emergency services and his name will live in legend in our station walls,” wrote the Plumsted Township Fire District on Facebook.
