LAROSE, La. — State fire officials are investigating a house that killed a volunteer firefighter-paramedic.
The Lafourche Parish firefighters responded to a house fire on Tuesday and found a man dead in his home, 4WWL reports. Fire officials believe the body found belongs to the 41-year-old homeowner, who is also a firefighter and paramedic in the area.
Officials found evidence that a kitchen fire started and was extinguished before firefighters arrived on scene and believe that it was a contributing factor to the house fire. The man’s body was found in a bedroom nearby.
The Lafourche Parish Coroner’s Office is investigating the cause of death and official identification is still pending.
