BROCKTON, Mass. — A Massachusetts ambulance service has taken “immediate action” after being notified about a Facebook post involving one of its employees.
Boston 25 News reports that Brewster Ambulance Service EMT Barbie Gagnon made a Facebook post that started with her telling fellow EMS providers to be safe after working a shift between Tuesday and Wednesday and seeing rioters vandalizing buildings.
“At this point, my life, my partners life is worth more to me than my license... Jump in front of my truck and your gettin your [expletive] run over. STRAIGHT FACTS. They don’t wanna play crazy with this chick, Im so much better at it,” Gagnon wrote, according to Boston 25 News.
Brewster Ambulance Service CEO Mark Brewster did not mention Gagnon by name but said the agency was notified about a post involving one of its EMTs and took immediate action. Brewster said personnel matters are confidential and did not give details about what action was taken.
Brewster told Boston 25 News that the agency does not support violence and “will continue to support non-violence to our community partners and the community we serve.”
He added that safety of employees, the community and patients are the agency’s number one goal and that additional steps have been taken to remind employees of the agency’s mission statement.
Gagnon sent Boston 25 News a statement saying her post was taken out of context and meant to be sarcastic, and was in response to seeing reports of fire trucks, police cars and ambulances being vandalized and set on fire.
