OLYMPIA, Wash. — Lacey Fire Department officials say they’re not sure what caused a medic unit to crash into a fence early Wednesday morning.
Deputy Chief of Operations Gary Pearson said crews responded to a call in the 3500 block of Hepburn Street Northeast just after midnight. They went inside of a home, and when they came out, the vehicle was 150 feet down the street and crashed into a fence.
“They didn’t see anyone around so they didn’t know how it got down there,” Pearson said. “...Maybe it was stolen, maybe someone played some kind of prank. We don’t know.”
The vehicle sustained minor damage and nothing appears to have been taken from it, Pearson said. No one was in the medic unit at the time.
The cause of the crash was unclear, so firefighters called the Lacey Police Department to investigate.
Lacey police Sgt. Terence Brimmer said officers weren’t able to find anything at the scene that coule point to a possible suspect, if the vehicle was in fact stolen.
“Nothing was seen, nothing was heard, so we don’t know what happened,” Brimmer said.
