New Orleans — Elaine Jastram Conrad, CAE, who served on the staff of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) for more than 30 years, received an Honorary Membership Award during the organization’s annual meeting in New Orleans.
Mrs. Jastram Conrad began her ACEP career as a library clerk typist in EMS Information Services. Over the years, her responsibilities grew with the organization, and she became an invaluable resource and mentor to emergency physicians as they assumed leadership positions in ACEP for the first time.
Mrs. Jastram Conrad rose to the positions of director, group director and ultimately associate executive director of a division that includes membership, communications, the Web site, Annals of Emergency Medicine, customer service and information technology. Under her leadership, ACEP increased its overall membership by more than 3 percent - at a time when medical society membership was falling. She also led successful efforts to retain graduating residents as ACEP members and served as the supervising executive director of the Emergency Medicine Residents’ Association.
The Honorary Membership Award is presented to individuals who have given outstanding service to ACEP or to the medical profession.
