OTTAWA, Ontario — A team of B.C.'s advanced care paramedics has defeated 29 other teams to take home the gold medal at the Canadian National Paramedic Competition in Ottawa.
The competition pitted teams against each other in a range of simulated events, including an Ebola outbreak, a Taser incident and an incident involving a capsized boat.
The B.C. team, which included paramedics Kathy Pascuzzo, Jade Munro and Kathryn Harms, is the first all-female team to compete at a national competition.
The women were coached by Rene Bernklau and Andy Fletcher, and regional training officer Brian Petersen.
