DECATUR, Ala. — First Response Ambulance, Decatur’s sole ambulance provider, is defending itself against a lawsuit by several of its employees alleging it violated federal overtime laws and retaliated against the employees who filed the suit.

On Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Inge Johnson required First Response to produce to the plaintiffs contact information on 34 employees not involved in the lawsuit, calling its effort to avoid producing the information “gamesmanship.”

First Response must maintain a certificate of public necessity and convenience to operate in the city. A Decatur ordinance provides that violation of federal laws is grounds for alteration, suspension or revocation of the CPNC.
