ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The Albuquerque Fire Department dispatcher that answered a 911 call the night of a fatal drive-by shooting in northeast Albuquerque has tendered his resignation.
Matthew Sanchez is a 10-year veteran of the department. Esperanza Quintero made a phone call no 17-year-old should ever have to make after her friend was shot at a party. “Good job, just stay with me, OK? OK? There you go, good job Jayden,” she said during the call to 911.
“Is he breathing?” the dispatcher asked. “He’s barely breathing,” she replied. “How many times do I have to (expletive) tell you?” “OK, you know what ma’am? You could deal with it yourself. I’m not gonna deal with this, OK?” the dispatcher said.
