COVINGTON, Ga. — As a paramedic, Norman Early is used to responding to emergency calls. Early was driving his ambulance May 20, when he said he spotted something — Two-year-old Aleea Lackey was in the middle of a busy Covington Highway.
“And I look and I think, ‘Oh my God, it’s a baby!” said Early.
Police said Aleea had walked away from her child care center, wandered down the lawn to the roadway. When he stopped, Early said, she was in the middle of two lanes.
