N.C. ambulance crashes while crew performing CPR on patient

Multiple people taken to hospital after crash that left ambulance on its side and significant damage to a truck

GREENVILLE, N.C. — An ambulance with a patient in serious cardiac distress flipped on its side on its way from MCAS Cherry Point to Carolina East Medical Center in New Bern. The ambulance collided with a truck.

Craven County Emergency Services Director Stanley Kite says multiple people were taken to the hospital after the crash on Highway 70 West at Thurman Road in the James City area. That is near the Carolina Colours subdivision.

The crash happened around 7:10 a.m. Kite says three Cherry Point crew members were performing CPR on the cardiac patient when the ambulance and the truck collided. The ambulance flipped on its side, while a witness says the truck had significant damage to the front bumper.
