POLK COUNTY, Texas — A Center man allegedly stole an ambulance from a Nacogdoches hospital early Sunday and led officers from several law enforcement several agencies on a high-speed chase before they spiked the ambulance’s tires and arrested him.
Authorities arrested Derwin Wayne Armstrong, 55, of Center, on charges of evading arrest/detention with a vehicle about 4 a.m. near Seven Oaks after Polk County authorities were able to successfully spike the ambulance, according to a Polk County arrest report.
The Nacogdoches County Police Department notified area law enforcement agencies just after 3:30 a.m. when the ambulance was reported stolen from Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital in Nacogdoches.
