GREENBELT, Md. — A pregnant woman is recovering after a stolen ambulance crashed into the car she was in, injuring her and killing the male driver.
Cheryl Linkins, 36, suffered a broken pelvis, a broken left hip and other neck and hip fractures. She’ll undergo a cesarean section and doctors say it could be up to four months until she walks again.
“My life has changed so much,” Linkins, a long-time teacher, told NBC Washington from her hospital bed.
The driver Alvin Hargrave, 77, was critically injured and died at the hospital.
“I even tried to call his phone to hear his voice and I just know it’s not going to happen again,” Linkins said.
The crash occurred Sunday after members of a Maryland ambulance crew were attacked by Sebastian Kellinger Isaksen, 34, when they stopped to check on his disabled vehicle.
