CHANDLER, Ariz. — An Arizona man accused of stealing an ambulance parked outside a Valley police station on Sunday fought with police during his arrest and spit at a nurse trying to treat him, court documents said.
Cesar Garcia, 33, had just been released from custody at the Chandler police station on a misdemeanor citation for having an open beer container at a store at 2075 N. Alma School Rd., according to Chandler police spokesman Joe Favazzo.
“Once released, it appears that Garcia did not want to walk home to the Guadalupe area, so he took off in an ambulance that was parked at the police department,” Favazzo said in a statement.
