NEW ORLEANS — An ambulance was struck head-on by a 25-year-old man driving a Nissan Maxima early Tuesday. The man died and two EMS providers were injured in the incident that happened just outside the emergency room entrance of a New Orleans hospital.
The Times Picayune reported the unidentified man lost control of his vehicle, crossed the neutral ground and collided head on with an ambulance.
The man was taken to the emergency room at University Medical Center, the hospital near where the crash occurred, where he was pronounced dead. The two EMS providers had injuries that were not life-threatening. They were also taken to the hospital.
Police said a toxicology screen of the driver’s blood is pending.
