AUBURN, Calif. — Four people were transported to area hospitals after a powerful head-on collision between an ambulance and a car in Auburn Friday night.
It happened on Dry Creek Road at 8:35 p.m. about a mile away from Highway 49.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the ambulance from American Medical Response was traveling west on the two lane road heading toward Sutter Auburn Faith hospital on a non-emergency call when it suddenly collided with a Honda Civic.
“The roads are wet and slippery,” said CHP Sgt. Jay Van Dyck. “One vehicle crossed the double yellow line. We don’t know which one, but both vehicles collided into each other. They veered off in different directions and went into a ditch.”
