CORNELIUS, N.C. — Responders attempting to back an ambulance into a garage caused a partial collapse of an N.C. medic station early Thursday morning.
The ambulance hit a sidewall at Medic Station #50 in Cornelius, Mecklenburg County, at about 3 a.m, which caused a section of the roof to fall away.
Falling debris ruptured a gas line, but fire crews were able to shut off the gas to the building, according to WBTV.com.
Two responders were inside the ambulance at the time of the incident but were not injured, and no one was in the building.
WBTV.com reported the ambulance’s “black box” monitors will now be analyzed to see if the collision was due to driver error or a vehicle malfunction.
The recording device doesn’t record video, but takes account for speed and other technical data.
