Ga. paramedics placed on leave after patient’s death

Family of woman say first responders failed to take her vital signs and did not transport her to the hospital

COLLEGE PARK, Ga. — Rural Metro Ambulance confirmed Tuesday that two paramedics are on paid administrative leave while the company investigates their response to a 911 last month.

Imprince Jean-Francois’ family called 911 Feb. 21 after the 34-year-old College Park woman began suffering severe stomach pain. The city of College Park has a contract with Rural Metro to provide emergency transport services.

An investigation completed last week by the College Park Fire Department found that Rural Metro paramedics were first at the scene that night. The fire chief said that city paramedics, who also responded, were turned away by Rural Metro paramedics.
