FRANKLIN, Ohio — The outcome of a summer election could increase the emergency care of residents but may come at the expense of fracturing a 30-year old EMS organization that some believe is sufficient.
City officials believe passage of a 3.5-mill tax levy in an August special election will allow them to better provide emergency medical service to residents, but there are some who believe the current joint ambulance district is the best format.
Since 1982, Franklin, Carlisle and Franklin Twp. have been covered by the Joint Emergency Medical Services (JEMS) organization because none of the three could independently maintain its own service.
