3 responders fired in sex-on-duty scandal

One Batt. Chief and two supervisors allegedly had sexual contact repeatedly while on duty and on county property

BARTOW, Fla. — Three Fla. responders have been fired following an inter-department sex scandal.

Two Polk County medical supervisors and a battalion chief have been terminated after they were found to be engaging in sexual activity while on duty and on county property, according to Fox 13.

In a five-page report released by the fire department, officials say medical supervisor Shellie Krauklis engaged in sex acts with medical supervisor Michael Tomlinson and battalion chief Trampas Fletcher, and she also exchanged inappropriate text messages with deputy chief Michael Choate.

Krauklis engaged in sex acts multiple times with Tomlinson and Fletcher while on duty, the report says.

Tomlinson says he never had physical contact with Krauklis while on duty, but investigators say his testimony is “not credible.”

Choate has been suspended without pay for seven days and will spend a year on probation. Officials say Choate never had physical contact with Krauklis.

The sexual activity came to light after a complaint about sexual harassment, but all involved say the contact was consensual.
