NEWCASTLE, England — Paramedics responded to a call about a freezing woman in the snow, only to find a statue when they arrived.
ITV reported that a person passing by called to report a woman freezing to death, sitting perfectly still on a bench and covered in snow.
When West Midlands Ambulance Service arrived, they found the Lady in the Park statue, which has been there for three years and marks the 100th anniversary of the start of WWI, depicting a woman reading a letter informing her that loved ones died in battle.
“Somebody in their car spotted who they thought was a person covered in snow and called us. An ambulance arrived straight away and our crew was there for exactly minute and one second,” the EMS agency said. “The woman who called us had good intentions, but it’s unfortunate that she didn’t go over to check first that it wasn’t a statue.”
