INDIANAPOLIS — A memorial street sign has been dedicated to two Indianapolis medics at the downtown Indianapolis intersection where they were fatally injured in a February crash.
McCormick & Medley EMS Memorial Way a few blocks north of the Indiana Statehouse honors Emergency Medical Services medics Tim McCormick and Cody Medley. They were fatally injured Feb. 16 when their ambulance collided with a car.
They’re believed to be the first emergency services workers to die in the line of duty in Indianapolis’ history.
Shortly after their deaths, Indianapolis EMS workers partnered with the city to find ways to pay tribute to the 22-year-old Medley and the 24-year-old McCormick. Indy Fire Rescue House, a nonprofit that provides temporary housing to families displaced by fires, collected public donations for the sign.
