ROOT, N.Y. — A 40-year-old Fort Plain man fought with an ambulance crew inside the vehicle on the way to a hospital Friday and a Taser was used to subdue him, state troopers said Saturday.
State Police responded to an ambulance stopped on Route 5S and noticed the back door was open and St. Johnsville Area Volunteer Ambulance Corps personnel were inside wrestling with an allegedly combative Jeremy J. Harrington.
When a trooper went to their aid, Harrington allegedly punched him in the side of the head. A Taser was then used on Harrington and he was restrained on the gurney for the rest of the trip to St. Mary’s Hospital in Amsterdam for unspecified medical treatment.
After treatment, Harrington was arraigned in Root Town Court on charges of third-degree attempted assault and disorderly conduct and sent to the Montgomery County Jail on $1,500 bail.
The trooper was not injured.
