OKLAHOMA CITY — Body camera footage of a suspect being taken down after attacking a paramedic and attempting to steal an ambulance was released by police.
News on 6 reported the Oklahoma City Police Department released footage of a chaotic hospital bay scene in which Ricardo Kendle, who had been released from jail shortly before, can be seen running to an ambulance and attempting to steal it.
Kendle had already been Tased after trying to pull a paramedic from another ambulance, but he got away.
A police officer and paramedics rushed to stop Kendle from driving away in the second ambulance.
“Thankfully, there were some officers on scene who came over,” EMSA Chief John Graham said. “Helped us subdue him.”
The first responders spent several minutes trying to handcuff Kendle.
“Let go of the handcuff, let go of the handcuff,” a responder can be heard saying in the video.
A paramedic was bit during the incident. OCPD Officer Megan Morgan said it was fortunate that the first responders acted so quickly to prevent any more harm.
“Fortunately, between the EMSA workers and our officer, they were able to react quickly and keep anybody else from getting injured or harmed in this incident,” he said.
