ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, Md. — A man has been arrested and charged with assault after witnesses told police he threw a medic against the wall of an ambulance while he was being transported to the hospital, police said.
At about 11:02 p.m. Thursday police responded to the intersection of Ritchie Highway and Church Street in Brooklyn for a disorderly person call. There they found Raymond Lowell Sterns, 50, who witnesses said stood up in the ambulance and threw one of the medics against the vehicle’s wall, according to a police report. Sterns was charged with second-degree assault, disorderly conduct and second-degree assault of an EMS official.
The medic who was injured told police she didn’t believe any bones were broken, but would seek a hospital examination, according to the police report. The medic also told police Sterns was being transported for a high-level of intoxication.
Sterns does not have a home address listed in court records. He also waived his attorney rights at his initial appearance and was released on his own recognizance.
