FALMOUTH, Ky. — A suspect who was fleeing from police held an EMT at gunpoint in her own home.
WLWT.com reported that Cherie Sullivan was assaulted by Charles Bruener as he attempted to flee from police. Bruener, who was wanted on outstanding warrants, also stole her stepson’s pickup truck.
During the chase, Bruener crashed a vehicle right in front of Sullivan’s home. He knocked on her door asking for help.
“It happened so fast, I don’t know what hit me in the head there, I just know I went down on the ground,” Sullivan said.
Sullivan said she attempted to radio for help, but Bruener pulled a gun and started to assault her in front of her 17-year-old stepson. He demanded a set of keys to one of their cars so he could continue running from police.
“Cody’s like, ‘Here just take my truck keys, just go.’ Because at that time, we were already in the kitchen and he already pushed me down,” Sullivan said.
Sullivan was at home recovering from being injured in a February crash when a car lost control and hit the ambulance she was driving.
Bruener was later apprehended and booked in jail on numerous charges, including burglary, assault, possessing firearms under disability, possession of drugs and more.
