TOMS RIVER, N.J. — A group of responders thanked an anonymous woman on their Facebook page for paying their breakfast tab after a long shift.
According to Patch.com, a Toms River First Aid Squad crew had just finished a night shift when they stopped to have breakfast at IHOP.
As they finished up, the crew’s waitress brought over their $77 bill with a note that read: “Paid, Thank you for all you do! Have a great day!”
The note was simply signed “Recovering addict,” and the restaurant’s manager said the woman wished to remain anonymous.
Capt. Alyssa Golembeski posted the note on the agency’s Facebook page.
“We’d all just come off the night shift,” Golembeski said. “We just want her to be thanked for her kind gesture, and since she asked the manager to remain anonymous, we were unable to do so in person.”
“This gift was amazingly thoughtful, and brought our table of tired EMTs to tears,” Golembeski continued. “We are so blessed to be able to serve you and everyone else who lives and works in the greater Toms River area. Good luck on your journey of recovery!”
Golembeski said the act of kindness “recharged and refreshed” the entire crew.
