TANEYTOWN, Md. — More than 100 bicyclists riding from Boston to northern Virginia to honor emergency medical services workers are making a stop in Maryland.
The 125 to 150 riders, EMS workers from around the country, will stop at the Taneytown Volunteer Fire Department on Friday morning on the final leg of a National EMS Memorial Bike Ride. The group will be presented with a proclamation from Gov. Martin O’Malley.
The ride is meant to honor EMS workers who serve every day, those who have become sick or injured while performing their duties, and those who have died in the line of duty. There are other rides around the country throughout the year, but this one is taking place during National EMS Week.
