PALM CITY, Fla. — Waste Management garbage collector Alex Spitznagel was tossing a garbage can into a truck when he suffered a heart attack and fell down on July 21. He became unconscious and was not breathing.
An off-duty paramedic who lived in the Palm Beach Gardens neighborhood, where Spitznagel was working, saw him fall. The paramedic sprinted to Spitznagel, called 911 and began CPR.
An ambulance took Spitznagel to the hospital, where he was put on a ventilator for a week. Now that he has recovered, Spitznagel and his fiance want to find the paramedic.
