RALEIGH, N.C. — EMS providers in North Carolina rallied together to help a colleague whose son died in a car crash last week.
WRAL.com reported Brandon Japhet was killed after his vehicle crashed into the back of a truck around Thursday. Jim Japhet, Brandon’s father, works at the Wake County EMS Department and was in the middle of several major home improvement projects prior to his son’s death.
Japhet’s colleagues decided to work together to help complete some of the projects and allow him time to grieve.
“We deal with tragedies day-in and day-out in our community,” colleague Jonathan Olsen said. “But when it hits one of yours — when it truly comes home — is when you get a group of folks inspired to step up and do something like this.”
Authorities are currently investigating the crash.
