WEST CHESTER, Pa. — A police department released footage of a group of civilians saving a driver from underneath his burning car after a school parking lot crash.

According to a Facebook post from the Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police, the driver of the vehicle had crashed into several parked vehicles at the Saints Simon and Jude School parking lot.

The released dash cam footage shows a group of people helping officers flip the SUV over before pulling the driver to safety.

School faculty members also helped contain the flames with several fire extinguishers so the driver could be removed from under the vehicle.

“Without their assistance, the incident could have ended in a tragic manner,” the post read. “It is our sincere hope that we will be able to identify those individuals who assisted at the scene and thank them for their compassionate and heroic actions.”
