SUNDOWN, Texas — A wife is blaming the death of her husband after the city cut EMS services.
KCBD.com reported that the City of Sundown now relies on emergency services from outside communities. The city said the cuts were due to the downturn in their economy. Sundown said they attempted to prepare the community by offering EMT classes, but only a few people participated.
A family, who is mourning the death of 41-year-old Calvin Kilby, said he may have not died if the city had not cut EMS services. Kilby’s widow said she attempted CPR for several minutes. Levelland EMS said they responded as fast as they could, according to the report.
Sundown expressed their sympathy for Kilby’s death and said they’re hoping to gather responders for volunteer EMS services within the next month.
