MESA, Ariz. — A Mesa police officer was taken to a hospital as a precaution after he became ill while responding to an emergency medical call, according to Larissa Dvorak with the Mesa Fire and Medical Department.

Police and fire crews responded to the scene for reports of a 37-year-old woman in cardiac arrest. While in the home, emergency crews began feeling lightheaded and had burning eyes.

“That officer was experiencing a little bit of burning sensations to their lungs and to their eyes so just for precaution to make sure that there’s no other medical treatment that’s needed,” Dvorak said.
