PENNSAUKEN, N.J. — Mayor John Kneib honored an EMT, who lost his battle to colon cancer, Wednesday night.

6abc.com reported that Joe Barr, 31, an EMT in Gloucester Township, died of colon cancer on April 16. Barr had worked in Bellmawr, Gloucester Township, Pennsauken and also with the Mount Ephraim Police Reserves. He was also a volunteer firefighter in Gloucester City and Pine Hill.

He leaves behind his wife, Jacqueline, and his daughter Emma.

“He was a great friend, a hilarious guy,” Ken Fink, a police officer for the Delaware River and Bay Authority, said.

Mayor Kneib presented Barr’s widow with a proclamation honoring his memory. Jacqueline said her husband was attracted to emergency medical services because he wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps, who was also an EMT.
