NEW YORK — A veteran emergency medical technician leveled charges of racism against a city firefighter yesterday — saying the Bravest hurled a slur at him and tried to knock him to the ground at a Brooklyn car crash scene earlier this week.
The on-duty clash, which allegedly took place Sunday afternoon, is now the subject of a police investigation and an internal probe by the Fire Department, which oversees both city firefighters and EMTs.
“I was publicly humiliated while trying to provide a service to the citizens of New York,” said EMT Russell Harris, 45, who is black.
