KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A child on a school bus was taken to the hospital Thursday morning after the school bus he was riding in was struck by a car.
The accident happened around 7:30 a.m. near the corner of Swope Parkway and Blue Parkway.
A Kansas City, Mo., police officer told KMBC’s Brenda Washington the crash was caused by a Cadillac heading northbound on Swope Parkway that drifted into a red car which ended up crashing into the bus.
The child taken to the hospital is expected to recover. The driver of the red car was also taken to the hospital. Her condition is not known.
The driver of the Cadillac was taken into custody. Police said he may be wanted on outstanding warrants.
Other children who were on the bus were taken off and moved onto another bus, which continued to the Genesis School.
