LOWELL, Mass. — A seven-year-old girl was flown to a Boston hospital yesterday afternoon after a grave headstone toppled onto her at Edson Cemetery.
The girl, who has not been identified, suffered non life-threatening injuries to her legs and shoulder, according to witnesses who arrived at the scene immediately after the accident.
She was observed talking to paramedics as they loaded her into an ambulance bound for the city’s Cawley Memorial Stadium, where a MedFlight helicopter was waiting to fly her to Boston.
The accident happened at around 4:15 p.m. The helicopter left the parking lot at Cawley Memorial Stadium at approximately 4:55 p.m.
