NEW YORK — A 46-year-old captain of the city’s emergency medical services was struck by a car while he was operating at a Bronx fire scene.

Officials said Capt. Steven Quirindongo was in serious but stable condition at Jacobi Medical Center after a car hit him from behind after driving through police barricades on Riverdale Avenue Sunday afternoon.

The driver of the car, Jay Friedenberg, 40, of Greenwich, was charged with failure to yield to an emergency vehicle and driving on the wrong side of the street.
