Conn. EMT on probation in false death report

STONINGTON, Conn. — A mistaken belief that a lightning strike victim was dead will mean probation and new training for the head of the Stonington Ambulance Corps.

Victor Lima, the president of the volunteer ambulance group, has agreed to a year’s probation and to undergo retraining for deciding last May that lightning victim Kevin Crandall was dead when he was actually alive.

The stipulations were part of a seven-page consent order between Lima and the state Department of Public Health, obtained by The Day of New London.
